What is BMX Freestyle?

BMX Freestyle is a scored cycling discipline in which athletes’ performances are evaluated based on the difficulty of tricks, originality, execution quality, and overall riding style. Unlike other disciplines, competition results are determined by scores given by a panel of judges.

During competitions, athletes perform an individual run lasting 60 seconds in a specially designed park. Judges evaluate the difficulty and variety of tricks, flow, control, mistakes, and overall style. The BMX Freestyle Park discipline is included in the Olympic Games programme.

BMX Freestyle bikes feature a shorter and stronger frame construction, and often include additional foot pegs that allow riders to perform complex acrobatic elements. The discipline is rapidly developing in Lithuania, especially with the emergence of extreme sports parks.
