What is Gravel cycling?

Gravel cycling is an endurance-based cycling discipline that takes place on mixed surfaces, mainly gravel roads, forest paths, and paved sections. Competitions are characterised by longer distances, varied terrain, and tactical decision-making, requiring high physical endurance and the ability to adapt to changing track conditions.

Gravel races are usually held over medium to very long distances. An important role is played by energy distribution, riding pace, the choice of tires and equipment, and the ability to independently solve technical situations on the course.

Gravel bikes are structurally similar to road bikes but are adapted for riding on lower-quality surfaces. They feature a stronger frame, more stable geometry, wider tires, and disc brakes, ensuring control and safety in various conditions. This discipline is rapidly developing both internationally and in Lithuania.
